Top Reasons Why TNPSC Rejects Candidate Photos

Published on: August 22, 2026

Avoid OTR rejection by understanding exactly why the commission's automated verification systems flag and reject document uploads.

1. Missing Name and Date Banners

Many candidates upload plain passport-size photographs without the white name and date band at the bottom. This is the single most common cause for photo rejection during TNPSC One Time Registration (OTR).

2. Non-White Backgrounds and Selfies

TNPSC rules mandate a plain white background. Photos with blue, red, or patterned background settings, or casual pictures/selfies, are flagged immediately. Both ears and neck must be visible in a direct frontal headshot.

3. Incorrect File Size or Low DPI Scan

Photos must be between 20KB and 50KB, and signatures must be between 10KB and 20KB. If files are too heavy, the portal blocks upload. If files are over-compressed manually, they become pixelated and fall below DPI requirements.

4. How to Ensure 100% Success

Use our specialized local compressor. The tool manages borders, dimensions, file size limits, and injects a 200 DPI header into the output JPEG so that it is processed and accepted by the TNPSC portal without issue.
